I've had Paint.Net for a long time, because after all, it was free and I thought that it if it had at least one feature I could use, it would be worth downloading.

Fast forward months and months, and I haven't used it ONCE. I guess I got off to a bad start by not knowing exactly how to use it, so I just ignored it and stuck to something familiar. But today, I reckoned that it was worth another try, and another try I gave it.

Turns out, it's not as bad as I remembered, and I may be using it more in the future. The above photo was edited with Paint.Net in about 5 minutes, so it could definitely be worse. :)

What about y'all? Ever heard of or used Paint.NET before? If so, whatcha think about it?

Like a lot of people, I thought that once I got an SLR camera, I'd take pictures constantly. I'd have my camera out everyday taking incredible pictures, etc., etc.

But, I haven't been taking many pictures lately. The 3 pictures below are the only decent ones I've taken in...days. I do, however, have a post that's been a draft for a few weeks now. Hopefully I'll get around to finishing it...one of these days.

I love taking pictures of my family, but getting to take pictures of someone different, somewhere different was really fun. I would go into how gorgeous she is and all that, but it's pretty obvious, don't you think?

I've always had a hard time shooting into lighting when the sun is setting. But yesterday, I wanted really badly to take pictures that did justice to a stunning sunset, so I tried some different angles. I actually shot at the bottom of a small hill, looking up, and it worked fairly well! I captured the light and didn't get silhouettes. Yippee!

And adding someone pretty completes it.

I am loving these spring colors! In the midst of tons of bare trees and boring landscape, they light up our back yard and give me hope that spring will come, eventually.

The sun right after a rain shower was amazing as we were riding on the interstate. Unfortunately my attempt to fully capture it was in vain. :P

I've been looking through old pictures and longing for summer! We live in a beautiful place, but this time of the year taking pictures of bare trees and color-less grass isn't that much fun, nor do the pictures turn out interesting or pretty.

In the mean time, I'm going to try very hard to work on taking portraits of people. It's one of (if not) my weakest areas in photography and I'd really love to become better at capturing those in between moments of the awesome people around me.

Plus, it will hopefully make this blog more interesting to you folks kind enough to follow. :)

P.S. Can you believe it? It's been almost a year since I lost all of my photos! I'm happy to report that that didn't take the fun out of photography, and I'm up to 55-ish folders full of pictures in just one year!

I really love taking pictures of flowers. I think one of the reasons I like taking pictures of them is because they sit there, perfectly still. Don't get me wrong, though - people are awesome, too. :)

Caroline and I have so much fun taking pictures. Spontaneous photo shoots are some of the best times we have. This one was really fun, and this particular photo reminds me why I love photography so much. Capturing those simple, sweet moments.

BIG NEWS!!

Almost 3 years of saving every dime and nickel for an SLR as paid off, and through a series of events, God made it possible for me to purchase the Nikon D3000 kit!!

I feel completely undeserving of this amazing camera. There is no comparison between the D3000 and the point and shoot I used before.

There are SO many pictures I want to share with y'all! I've taken around 390 pictures in the five days that I've had it, so narrowing it down to my favorites may get a little tricky.

And also, if some of them look a little grainy or fuzzy, I apologize! Due to our very slow internet, I had to downsize them, which reduces the quality.

Can't take credit for this one....Livvy took it!

This is the 55-200mm lens that was included in the kit!

One neat feature is that you can change the picture to B&W or sepia AFTER you've taken it, while it's still on the camera!

I am really blessed to have such a fun, easy-to-take-pictures-of sister.

And lets just say, that she can look way more natural in front of the camera then I can.

Our mini photoshoot was very last minute. We were inside, and felt like going outside.
And what was my natural reaction to going outside? To take pictures while I'm out there, of course!

I hope you enjoy a little glimpse into our "photoshoot".

Oh, and if you feel inspired, grab a sibling & a camera, run out the door, stand in the front yard, and take pictures of each other! Trust me, it really is a lot of fun! (And when you do it when the sun is setting, it's even better.)

^As I was resizing this one, I had a crazy idea to leave the grass green and change the rest of the picture to sepia. Turns out, I really like it that way! What do you think?

My room was incredibly dark one day, but I thought maybe I could edit this picture and make it lighter. It is lighter, although still a little bit grainy.

Ok, so a lot grainy.

But hey, I love my journal, and I love color. So just ignore the grainy-ness, and look at the journal.

Dear and faithful readers,
It brings me much grief and sorrow to give you this terrible, unimaginable news.

Every picture I've ever taken, every memory that has been captured in the last 3 1/2 to 4 years, each and every one of them... do not exist.

Really and truly, they're all gone. While being transferred from one computer to another, the hard-drive that they were on broke, and unless a miracle happens, cannot be fixed.

I feel quite empty.

But I will not give up! I will keep taking pictures! Every time I get an opportunity, more than before, and fill the computer space up until it's so full that I have to get another computer to keep them on.

In the mean time, I keep my mind on other things, and try not to think about what I've lost.

To the camera, and beyond!

I got my very first editing software a few days ago (thanks, Dad!!) and since then have been having so much fun editing photos and making headers. I've had a dream of making my own headers for a while, and it's really awesome to finally be able to!!

So, which header do my readers like the best? Your comment is very much appreciated.

with this camera!!

While in Nashville a few weeks ago, Dad and I had a few hours alone. So what do you think we did?!? We went to Wolf Camera!! I'm so happy and very grateful that Dad also has a love for photography. It definitely wouldn't be as fun loving it alone!

While we were there, a very, very helpful worker let us handle and take pictures with whatever camera we wanted. I got to take pictures with my truelove, (a.k.a. Nikon D90) and I was also introduced to Nikon's newest camera, the D5000. Although it has a bigger name, it's actually a step down from the D90, but a step up from the D60. It had some really neat features that other cameras don't have.

I'm not exactly sure what you call the movable screen, but that thing is pretty awesome! It makes taking pictures from the ground or any difficult areas much easier.

Well, what more can I say? All in all, it was the most glorious hour I've ever had.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to stop by. Sometimes new visitors and comments can make my day!

My name's Anna Camille {called Camille, though} and this blog is a collection of pictures that I've taken, occasional opinions that I may have, and general things that have to do with photography.

I live in a place where the grass grows high, the sun shines bright, and the humidity is insane. Otherwise known as the wonderful, friendly south. Needless to say, a good deal of the pictures I take are of God's nature. But, I'm working on taking portraits, too.

As of September 2010, I purchased my first SLR camera, the Nikon D3000. After saving for 2 1/2 years, I'm completely enjoying it's amazing abilities, and trying not to get spoiled!

I'm a reformed Christian, and seek to honor my heavenly Father in all that I do.
